I’m already sick of Direct TV.

Ok, not really. I’m pretty grateful to have TV at all. But they come into the house and won’t set up the account without my SS# and permission to run my credit… Hello? My credit info and social are none of their goddamn business. It drives me insane that SS#s are bandied about so much. People guard their telephone numbers more than their socials. A social security number was never supposed to be used as an identifying number. Ever. So my alternatives? Pay $50.00 upfront and give them access to my credit card for auto billing. And they wouldn’t even tell me the amount I was agreeing to pay before giving them my card. grrrrrrr. So what did I do? I gave them my social and let them run a credit check. I figured it was the lesser of two evils. If there were any other form of television out here I would have cancelled the order.

The bottom line is, I don’t know who I’m more pissed off at; DirectTV for requesting this info or myself for being too addicted to television to tell them to f*ck off.

Design and Usability Woes.

Say you’re selling items on your website, you have 5 different patterns, 10 different colors, not all the patterns come in all the colors. You’d need a drop down menu that would allow you to choose the pattern, then a drop down menu below that, that will change depending on the pattern selected, to reflect the color choices available for that particular pattern choice.. oh and .jsp and .asp are not available options on the server in question.
Any ideas?

Direct TV’s coming on Wednesday.
Direct TV’s coming on Wednesday.

Thank God! If I don’t find out what happened now that Rafe married Livvie and Alison is confessing to Kevin’s murder… I’ll just die… =P

Have I mentioned that the phone company wants $125 to rewire a jack for a new designated phone line, so that I don’t have to sign off and check the voice mail for messages?? Are they insane?

Oh and every single time you call now, it says “Due to unusually heavy call volume your wait time will be several minutes”. I’m thinking they should change the message to “usually heavy call volume”, or maybe even, “since we only have 12 people servicing the entire country, your wait time will be several minutes”.
Bitter? Me?

So I seem to be “off” unpacking for the time being. I think yesterday’s run-in with the spider is to be thanked for that. Somehow, blindly putting my hand into a box filled with God knows what is not exactly on my hit parade. (Hit parade? Good God, how old are you Christine?)

Last night my need to watch something even vaguely resembling television got the best of me so I popped “Pearl Harbor” into the DVD drive on the laptop and watched it for the first time. I must be getting soft in my old age, cause I really thought it was a great movie. Just enough love story and tragedy and missed opportunities to keep my heart engaged and historic content, poetic license taken into consideration, to keep me interested. I just love the “docudrama” genre.

So for tonight, the only DVD we own that I haven’t seen is “The Fast and the Furious“. Obviously, I didn’t pick that one out, but there’s nothing left to watch and I have no idea where the “Classic movie videos” box is.
And please don’t ask me why I didn’t hook up the laptop to the television and watch that way, if I could find the connecting cables, I would have.

(Elephant Toes)

Anyway, I’m bored to death, which I seem to recall having mentioned previously and I know I need to do something, but if I could figure out what that was, I probably wouldn’t be writing about it here.
