Grease is the word…

I see that Grease is out on DVD now.

Really one of my all time favorite movies from my childhood, I thought I would pick it up and have a “Grease” Party with the kids.

But wait… As I think more about it, it occurs to me that this movie is hardly appropriate for my children! I was twelve, I guess when it was released in theaters and I’m really surprised thinking back, how much I understood that at twelve I really shouldn’t have. As a generation, were we more precocious than our children will be? Is it that precociousness that makes us keep our children more “sheltered”?
Will our children be the first generation ever to be more innocent than their parents?

What do you think?

I’m sorry, what was that?

Have you ever had one of those days when directions don’t make sense to you, you can’t seem to follow a line of thought or concentrate on anything? Yeah, that’s me today.

On the upside? My house is immaculate. You just have no idea how very seldom I can truthfully say that.

Have you seen that commercial?

The one where the woman is dancing in the club having a wonderful time and the voice over says in a rather ominous, patronizing tone;
“Your doctor probably never sees you when you feel like this.”
Cut to the same woman lying in a fetal position on her bed in what you assume is the afternoon.
Doomsday voice: “You probably only call him when you feel like this”
Cut to same woman, middle of the night frenetically painting a wall bright red;
“Did you mention all the projects that you start the last time you spoke with your doctor?”

You get the picture right? Then “scary voice” says, “Are you being treated for depression and you just don’t feel better?”
the commercial, I’m sure, is produced by a drug company somewhere, but the tag is: bipolarawareness.com

It’s a damn effective commercial, I’ve got an appointment next Thursday…

And now it’s 2am, and I think I’m going to dig out the craft boxes to try to find the craft glue so that I can put together a box of projects to do with the kids tomorrow.

See?

How old is she again?

Last week, H Kat (who’s four) was running around the house singing, “Come Sail Away, come sail away come sail away with me – yeah!”
I vaguely recalled having heard that on the radio earlier in the day.
Today as she’s sitting down to dinner I hear, “8-6-7-5-3-0-9″
I do NOT recall hearing that song, but we must have.
I come from a musical family. I sing, I taught myself to play piano… so I expected my kids to show an affinity for music at least. But this kid blows me away! She really can pick up and hold a tune and has a pretty powerful voice for such a little kid!

Bye Bye Love, Hello Happiness

Jim worked today… Yay!
I couldn’t be happier. When he got home we didn’t even snarl at each other.
The world is in balance again.

I’m going to go get myself a tall, cold glass of Diet Pepsi and cross off a million things on my to do list that I actually accomplished today. I love doing that.
