We were watching a repeat of Fresh Gear yesterday… (Have I mentioned that I think Sumi Das has the best job in the world?) On the show, they reviewed this little, hand held karaoke player and gave it a pretty good rating. Now, we’ve been toying with the idea of buying a good one, used at a pawn shop, but somehow just never got around to it.
Stop making fun of me… We all love to sing, we never get out and it’s something to do besides watch the television that has 870 channels, yet never any decent programming…
I went to the website to read more about it and saw that they sell it at Wal-Mart for $80. Since we had nothing better to do, we decided to go check it out.
When I got there, they had about 300 of them and they weren’t $80, they were $35! I scooped one up, thinking that if it was really awful, we’d just return it. Wal-Mart takes back ANYTHING… literally, anything.
Remembering to check the box to see if we needed anything for it (we did, 4 AA batteries), I bought it (along with the cutest bag for $10… that’s right $10.. but that’s a different story and shall be told at a different time), we rushed on home and plugged this bad boy in.
Now, I have to say that the midi files that they call music, leave a bit to be desired, but the kids had so much fun with it, we were all hysterical for the better part of two hours. It comes with 50 songs pre-loaded, you plug it right in to the tv… it’s a snap. In order to get more songs, you load the software onto your computer, plug the player in via USB port and head on over to the website. I have to tell you that the website was so slow I thought I was going to die… and the songs at a dollar a pop, aren’t really a bargain, but all in all I have to give this product a pretty good review.
It probably makes a difference that we have a home theater system, I would imagine that just the speakers on a television wouldn’t make for much fun, but I know we’re going to drive the neighbors crazy for quite some time with this toy.
