Uhhh, what?

Ok, so how the hell did Ruben get into the bottom two? I mean really.

Trenyce? She was ready to go… and as much as I think Josh is adorable, well, he just isn’t good enough for the rest of this competition… oh, please, you know I’m right. Yell in the comments all you want, but he just doesn’t have it. Even he knows it.

So, I’ve been addicted to American Idol for some time now… and now I think I’m going to have to start voting. I didn’t want to do it, but America, you leave me no choice.

Lovely Evening

Jim came home early tonight… Just ’cause. Things have been a lot better around here lately and he’s really trying to do the right thing at this particular point in time. So anyway, he came home early, we all jumped in the car and went for a ride, went food shopping, picked up some really unhealthy crap for dinner (as well as nourishing, nutritional meals for tomorrow and Saturday, and then we played with the Karaoke machine. Too much fun!

T loves to sing, just like his Dad and is a bit tone deaf, just like his Dad… *grin*. We were all belting out the tunes for about an hour and then it was bedtime.

Jim and I watched Will and Grace and started to watch the Dateline about the Dixie Chicks… You know, I have no problem with them speaking their mind, but then don’t get all upset when people decide to exercise their right to boycott. If you’re going to open your mouth, have the courage of your conviction and stand behind your remarks. Yes, you have the right to say whatever you want and I have the right to never buy a thing that you have a hand in, just because I didn’t like what you said. It works both ways girls, get used to it. If you don’t want to deal with the ramifications of your actions, keep your mouth shut. If you want to use your position to get your agenda across, then deal with the aftershocks.

Ok, I’m done.
Goodnight.

American Idol

Well, Carmen’s finally gone. That was a long time coming. She’s cute, she’s got a nice voice, but I really didn’t think she belonged there.

I’m glad to see that Kimberly Locke is coming into her own.

My prediction is that the final three will be Kimberly, Clay and Reuben. And that in the end Clay will be the American Idol.

What a lovely day

This Easter, there was no pomp and circumstance. There was no turkey, ham, lamb or any sort of big complicated dinner. There was no company. There were no Easter outfits. The Easter baskets were small 69 cent baskets from Walgreen’s, with only a few malted eggs, small chocolate eggs, a small jar of bubbles and a chocolate bunny for each child. We only colored a dozen eggs and I bought the kit that comes with the solid dye in the disposable cups on sale at Publix for $1.99.

We got up early and after a big, steaming pot of delicious coffee, Jim took the kids outside and while they blew bubbles and played ball, he cleaned out the garage. The decade of clutter that I won’t let him bring in the house has now been thinned considerably. I stayed inside and caught up on email, finished my book (Gertrude and Claudius by John Updike), and gave Mom some remote desktop assistance (I love XP).

After he was done, we threw on suits and jumped into the pool for a bit. Still a bit chilly for my taste, I wasn’t in long but it was very refreshing. I gave H a shower and took one myself and by the time I was done, Jim and T were on their way inside as well. They each hopped into a shower and I started dinner, which was wonderful! I had some trepidation about such a simple Easter dinner, but it was terrific.
Roasted chicken breast, steamed broccoli, couscous and some surprisingly delicious corn-on-the-cob.
Yum.

The kids washed up and played on the computer with Jim a bit and I just vegged in front of the TV, writing a little, reading a little, not really doing much of either.

There was no mad dash to get to a mass that no one wanted to attend, there was no over-heated kitchen with a turkey that’s way too big to feed only four people, or a leg of lamb that sort of gives me the willies to look at anyway, or God Forbid, one of those ham things.

It was relaxing, fun, nourishing time together for Jim and the kids and time for me to just be. I feel renewed and relaxed and ready to start fresh tomorrow. And isn’t that what “Easter” means?

And as an aside, this is my 500th entry… how about that?
