We’re leaving for Homestead in the morning. I’m finishing up the packing now and I must say, it’s a huge job. One thing’s for sure though. I need new clothes. I have plenty of stay-home-do-the-laundry-go-to-the-supermarket-run-to-the-library clothes, but I have maybe two things that I can wear out to dinner. Sad, isn’t it? If anyone tries to break into the house while we’re away, they’re in for a rude awakening. All the valuables (jewelery and electronics) are coming with us… =P

The plans are to go to the zoo, go to the Keys, meet Dale, go to the science museum and hopefully meet up with a long-time online friend if we can (Hi Camille!). Quite a packed schedule…

We have to be back for the 4-H meeting on the 3rd, or else I think I’d stay till Jim’s done.

The baby-sitter was great. I hung around for a while, then having a good feeling about her, went to Target and Pier One. I had a great time ALL BY MYSELF and the kids had a great time with her. Worth every penny!

I didn’t do so well with the smoking thing, but I’ll try again. It’s so damn hard. I think I’ll try the patch next time. I went almost three whole days, so that’s something… right?

And I know I’ve changed our Thanksgiving plans about 100 times so far, but we’ve decided that the kids and I are going to drive down to Miami to meet Jim. We’re meeting him in Homestead and for his two days off we’re going to explore the Keys. He goes back to work on Friday and the children and I plan to visit the Zoo, the Miami Science Museum and most definitely the beach! I miss the smell of saltwater so much! I grew up on Long Island and being landlocked sucks. I’m sorry, but lakes and rivers are NOT the same.

Of course I’ll be bringing the laptop and even though I plan on trying to jump onto someone’s broadband via the wireless, I picked up a dial-up just in case. And while we’re on the subject, I think it should be mandatory that hotels have a broadband connection.
