There’s something so strange about going away and then coming home. 12 or so hours into being home, it’s almost as if you’d never left. Does that happen to anyone else?Anyway, we got home on Wed. and I got a call from the mom who runs our homeschool group. They were having an ice cream social for the kids on Thursday and as much as I wanted to just sit on my couch and do nothing, I knew it would be fun. So Thursday morning we went over to her house and were there from 10-2:30. It was a lot of fun and we did some future planning for field trips and the like. There’s some great stuff going on and it looks to be a fun fall… Today I’ve got some errands to run and it’s time to stock the fridge with healthy food. It was definitely a month of decadence, we really ate our way through Long Island. But now it’s time to get back to reality and back on my diet. I also want to go check out the new flea market and see if the bead lady got her booth there. I’m jonesing for some beads.

I am sitting in my living room typing this. It’s been over a month since I’ve been here and I have to say, it’s good to be home. It’s nice to do what I want when I want, eat what I want, not worry about other people’s time schedules. You know, we’ve lived so far away from everyone for so long that it’s hard to mesh with another household.But all in all we had a wonderful trip and now it’s time to get back on track.I got a phone call today from another mom in the homeschooling group and there’s an ice cream social tomorrow! While I wish I had a little more time to recuperate, I know the kids will really enjoy it.We’re all unpacked and I ran to Publix for some provisions, which included a bottle of wine for me. I’m going to sit on the couch, have a glass of wine and look at my stuff. That’s right, I’m not going to do anything with it, I’m just going to look at it. Color me comfortable.

Well, we’re packing up, doing the laundry and packing the car. We’ve decided on Italian for our last supper. Tomorrow morning we’ll have bagels for breakfast and head out after rush hour. It’s been a terrific trip and we’ve done some amazing things, but a month is long enough. And whoever said you can’t go home again… well he wasn’t exactly right. You can go home again, you just can’t stay there long.So check the moblog for updates on our trip home if you like and I should be home by Wednesday.Wish us luck!
