Looks Like I Picked the Wrong Week to Stop Sniffing Glue

Friday, February 2 Joe flies in from California, we run around taking care of business all afternoon. Have a tenant that’s leaving with no notice, the follow up from an eviction, and a new tenant moving into a house. In the evening, Joe, Gail (who drove up from Hobe Sound), Jim and I go to Bella Luna for dinner.
Sat. Feb. 3: Take care of some more business in the day, do lunch at Chili’s with Joe, Gail, Travis and Haley, have birthday dinner and party for Haley’s 9th birthday at home.
Sun. Feb. 4th – Super Bowl Sunday: More property management business in the morning. Say good-bye to Gail in the afternoon, have Joe over for Superbowl Sunday evening. Say good-bye to Joe who leaves for the airport.
Mon. Feb. 5th: Wake at 5 am, with the worst case of what I think is food poisoning. Have horrific 4 hour ordeal – like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. Spend all day Monday and Tuesday sleeping and trying to keep water and ice down. Fight very real fear that I’m going to wind up in the hospital from dehydration.
Wed. Feb. 6th: Feel slightly more like a human. Figure that I haven’t had a cigarette since Sunday night, so I might as well quit smoking. It’s Jim’s day off, so we just sort of hang around and take it easy. In the afternoon, I notice that Travis is breaking out in what looks a little like hives, but he feels ok, so we don’t think much of it.
Thursday Feb. 7th: Travis is covered in what can only be chicken pox. Take him to the dr. who confirms that it is, in fact, the dreaded pox. There is a pox upon my house…
Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: Quarantined so that we don’t infect anyone else. Good news is I’m still not smoking and Travis is starting to clear up. So far, no sign of the pox on Haley, but we’ve got another week at least until we’re clear of the danger of infection. We’re going stir crazy. Please send chocolate.
