I Love, Love, Love My House

No really, I do. We took a run over there today to bring over the breakables (I’m a little manic about my grandmother’s cut glass and colored glass), and while we were there, we really inspected things like cabinets and drawers and closets. Whoever built this house had more money than sense, but I can really appreciate the eccentricities. I’ll post some pictures after we move to explain what I’m talking about cause you really have to see to believe. We’re just odd enough to really enjoy it.

Tomorrow is moving day and the movers will be here at 9AM, which means I’m going to have to be up around 6. Have I mentioned that I’m not a morning person? I’m not. So, if I’m scarce for a day or two, don’t worry – I’m just moving.

Crazy Dream

Last night, I dreamed that I got bit by a raccoon.  After it bit me, I grabbed it by the snout and threw it out of my house.  The bite wasn’t really bad and I thought that maybe I should go to the ER to see if I had rabies (I have no idea how long it takes for rabies to show up), but then I went into the bedroom and the raccoon was there.  I don’t remember anything after that, so maybe I woke up then.  The strange thing was that throughout the dream, I was very calm and anyone who knows me will tell you that if I found a raccoon in my house, I would not be calm. Of course, I’m always looking for the hidden meaning in every single little thing that happens to me things so I jumped right up this morning and googled “raccoon dream“

The first listing was to this which gave me the following definition:

“Raccoon

The raccoon has stood for deception, mischief, and thievery down through the ages because of his mask and his nocturnal ways. To dream of a raccoon warns you to be on your guard and the dream should be studied carefully in context with the rest of your symbols.   To dream you see a raccoon in your dream shows that people are presenting false faces to you in your everyday life. To be chased by a raccoon shows that a person you thought a friend has turned on you and now works behind your back for your downfall.”

I didn’t like that interpretation much, so I kept looking. Unfortunately, that’s the accepted definition no matter how many search engines I check.

I love my Iphone.  And since the new release I’m having a ball.  However, apps are far too easy to download and far too easy to pay for!  That being said, I have a renewed love affair with Ms. Pacman.  Eventually I’ll have to upgrade to the 3G, but my husband will be happy to take my current phone. Tetris, Break, Tap Tap Revenge and Garf (think Simon from the 80s) are terrific, but my heart will always belong to Ms. Pacman. My son is starting to understand that he comes by his video game addictions honestly. It’s genetic.

Warm Pasta Salad with Asparagus and Grape Tomatoes

I saw this recipe from Paula Dean and when I went shopping, I forgot to get the mushrooms. Scrounging through the fridge and pantry, I came up with this. It was so good that I think I’m going to have it for breakfast.

1 box whole wheat pasta (penne, rotelli, fusilli)
1 large bunches of asparagus, trimmed, washed and cut into 1.5 in. pieces
1 pint grape tomatoes, cleaned and halved
1/4 c. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1/8 c. White Balsamic Vinegar
1 can Garbanzo Beans (chick peas) drained and rinsed
1 (about 8 oz.) container of Feta cheese
Salt and Pepper to taste

Put water up for pasta and prep vegetables.  Put tomatoes and chick peas in bowl.  About 30 seconds before the pasta is done, drop asparagus in water.  Drain pasta and asparagus and allow to cool for about 2 minutes. Add to tomatoes and chick peas. Add olive oil, vinegar and feta.  Toss till combined. Serve while still warm.

This is the best “impromptu” meal in a long time and the leftovers are calling to me from the fridge.
