I’m Never Moving Again

At least not for a while.  This move really kicked my ass.  I’m apparently too old to pack boxes and coordinate movers and packing and the purchase of boxes when the liquor store lets you down and making sure the kids have their rooms ready to go and the dogs have their leashes and collars and did we get tags for the puppy ? (she’s a year and a half now).  Yeah, moving is just not my cup of tea any longer.

The good news is that our things fit really well in the new house.  Considering we went from 4000 sq. ft. t0 2000, I was a little concerned.  But everything just sort of looks like it belongs here and the layout of the house is very clever and well planned. I don’t think I’ve ever been so comfortable in a new home, so quickly.

We had a horror of a Dish Network installer show up and stay for six hours and three lawn service appointments that never bothered to show up.  But the phone company was here right on time and got that handled and really, it’s all about the internet connection, isn’t it?

So yeah, I’m shot.  Unpacking is definitely easier than packing and it is fun to rearrange my stuff (my kids seem to like that part too) and we’re so much more comfortable in a neighborhood than we are in a rural setting.   So while I’m still recovering, I’m looking forward to the time where I can put the memory of the move in the past, where it belongs.

Red wine helps. :wine:

Seriously, we have moved every single year since we got married. We’ve been married 9.5 years. Five of those moves have been interstate. I love him and all, but… DUDE.

The sick twist is that this year, even if we were staying in the same place (we *aren’t*) I would still have to send out my yearly “here’s my new address” email because they changed both the zipcode AND the name of the … area?… where I live. So wrong.

Thank you! I’m definitely working on it!

  3. Believe me, I know what you mean. A few years ago we moved (again), and finally have settled down a bit for the long haul again. The stress of moving honestly had me completely out of it for the first year that we were in our home now. :w00t: I’m only just now feeling settled again … three years later. I wish you all the best with feeling settled very soon. Hang in there.
