We all know how hard it is to achieve balance in our lives. Work, home, children, health, friends, spouses, it’s exhausting. I know that I’m out of balance when I stop exercising, start making unhealthy food choices, staying up too late — Imbalance shows itself in myriad ways in my life and honestly? Sometimes I just let it slide out of control, watching and doing nothing about it. As a matter of fact I’ve been doing that lately. Sometimes things just get so overwhelming that everything comes crashing to a halt. It’s time to take myself back in hand and start taking better care of myself. We all know the cliche about Moms putting themselves last, but it’s a cliche because it’s true. It happens all the time and the truth really is that if you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take the best care of anyone else.
So, then you feel guilty and that makes things even worse. Right?
Well. Let’s make a pledge to stop that, right now. It’s never too late to turn things around and one of the best ways I know to start is to resume my vitamin regimen. I know that I have vitamin B issues, so when I’m really taking care of myself, I take a vitamin B complex and an additional B12. I also take a good Omega 3 supplement, a women’s multi, and a milk thistle for liver function (I’m obsessed with the toxins in our environment and I really like to give my liver some support).
I know that physically this is a good thing to do for myself, but psychologically I’m starting each day in a good frame of mind, conducive to even further healthy, smart choices…
There’s a commercial on TV (I don’t even know what it’s for), but it talks about how one good choice leads to another and another and another. So I think if we make small steps, it leads to bigger and better steps. Who’s with me?
