More and more I think we all are coming to agree that we live in a global community and that we’re all connected and responsible for one another and the choices we make. That includes the products that we buy. I for one, want to know that the coffee, cocoa, vanilla, clothing and other products that I’m buying are being grown, harvested and packed by people who are making a decent, living wage.
So when the good people at FairTradeUSA contacted me about their app I was thrilled to try it out and introduce it to my readers. You can download the app for iPhone or Android – it’s free, super easy to use and by raising our awareness we can really make a difference in the world.
Using your smart phone – or the Facebook app, simply put in your zip code to find Fair Trade Certified products in your area. Find a product in a store that’s not listed? You can also add products that you find so that other concerned consumers will be able to find that product as well.
This small act can make a huge impact on literally thousands of farmers in 58 developing nations.
I know it can seem overwhelming and we often feel like there’s not much we can do as one person, but that’s just not true. Each small act, brings us closer to the next small act and the one ofter that and before you know it, we’ve changed the world.
I know that’s the legacy I’d like to leave behind.
